My Dream had always been to go to college so I discovered this was one way I could make my dream come true...
I was 34 when my brother told me about this idea to join the army so I could go to college and he could pay off a 12 thousand dollar college loan he acquired while going to ...........In Orlando.

So I arrived in Ft Jackson, SC, a couple weeks before he did. At first they would not allow us any communication with our family and I had a daughter only 10 years old, and this was very hard on her and I remember the pain deep in my gut when I would go to sleep, in the barracks. I would sometimes cry myself to sleep. I never let them see me cry. NEVER! Some of the others and there was 60 females in my company. I saw some of them break down and it was not a pretty sight. One female in another company committed suicide and one in my company had a seizure, from the stress...

I would like your feedback to understand, if people want to know about someone's personal experiences in the military and please do not misunderstand, I believe that every American should be required or want to join the military it would put some backbone in our youth today.

It is sad to me that we all have lost so much respect for what freedom stands for and I myself learned a great deal and the experience reinforced the values that were inspired in my life seeing others lose their right to be free.

Sometimes we gain nothing without pain...
